Church of God Members Devastated By Turkey Bacon Recall

Its a tough day in Church of Godland.   Kraft has had to recall 2 million pounds of one the most disgusting fake foods ever created.  It ranks right up there along side SPAM.

It would be better for mental health reasons to recall UCG's entire Council of Elders, Gerald Flurry, Dave Pack, Rod Meredith, Ron Weinland, the seemingly alive GTA, Coulter, Hawkins, Billingsley, Hawkins, Coulter, etc, etc, etc.

Funny, but turkey bacon is nothing compared to the cruelty of carob.. how many poor CoG kids had their hopes dashed at a saturday potluck by spotting what looks like a delicious pan of chocolate brownies and then... ewww, NASTY.

Turkey bacon and carob have to be two of the most disgusting things out there that the church fostered off on us. Even the turkey ham as nasty. The turkey bacon and ham was the church's way of being as close to the world as they could without actually eating the real stuff.

Turkey bacon is a bad joke compared to beef bacon or "real" (pork) bacon.

But I used to like the carob treats. Or rather, I usually found them acceptable.

These things are just a few more indicators or symptoms. A bogus, ersatz religion is going to grasp at artificial substitutes in just about all areas of life. At Ambassador College one time, I was surprised to see what I thought was crab meat served in the dining hall. I asked an upper classman about it, and he said it was some kind of flavored soy protein that the Seventh Day Adventists or Jehovah Witnesses ate.

Bogus is as bogus does.

I don't understand your problem on this folks. If someone needs a gluten free diet, what's the problem if they eat gluten free bread rather than the 'real thing'.

If a vegetarian wants to eat a soya substitute for meat, where is your problem?

Likewise if someone, be it Muslim, Jew or COG member, wants to eat a turkey/beef/soya substitute for something that is more commonly made from pork, for their own reasons, who are you to be looking down on them, mocking and judging?

In this I agree Questeruk. Personal choices for whatever reasons are....well..personal. I suppose it's the enforcing on others where lies The rub.

Sssshhhh. They don't realize that all commercial milk with Vitamin D added, gets the vitamin D from porcine sources. Therefore, everything that you could purchase at the store which has milk as an ingredient contains a tad of oink.

Also, the pancakes or hash browns you are served in the restaurant are grilled next to your fellow patron's pork bacon or sausage, with little more than an occasional scrape of the spatula to keep the juices separate.

I remember one Bible Study question from an indoctrinee in Texas from the early 1960s: "Is it OK to eat beef hotdogs if you lust after pork ones?" The minister did not cover the lust aspect. He pointed out that in most cases hotdogs are made from junk meat, and that if members want to eat hotdogs occasionally, they should purchase kosher ones. Similar questions over the years regarding bacon were answered in a manner deflecting to the level of fat content.

Bottom line is that any strength practiced to extreme becomes a weakness. That natural law or limitation becomes the real undoing of Phariseeism and other forms of asceticism.

I've notice a trend, no matter the avoidance of this and that, towards dying around the appropriate time in a life by member and minister in the COG's. That is if you don't die of cancer or drop dead with a heart attack earlier on.

Given enough time, our chances of survival drop to zero.

7:04...turkey ham! They used to serve that ad nauseam in the Big Sandy dining hall. With a pineapple glaze -- yeah, we got it, it was LIKE ham, but not really ham. But enjoy the ham. Which wasn't ham.

Over and over and over and...haven't had it since. Yuck.

The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church is really big on these so-called “meat substitutes.” This way, those who never stopped lusting after pigs and shellfish can go on pretending to be eating them. It is argued that it is technically all right since a genetically modified and gussied up soybean is still not really the pig or shellfish that it is made to look like, smell like, and taste like.

It is disappointing to hear that Ambassador College regularly served what some would call “SDA food substitutes.” I always thought that if God said something was abominable/detestable/unclean that people who were serious about learning God's own good ways would want to avoid even the appearance of eating the things that He had said were not fit to eat.

The Bible warned, “The spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth” (I Timothy 4:1-3, NIV).

Sure enough, along came the SDA church pushing vegetarianism and calling it a “health message.” The early SDA prophetess Ellen Gould White (nee Harmon) was a big pork eater until one of her sons died, after which she switched to vegetarianism. This cuts out enjoying a good celebration with the fatted calf, mashed potatoes, salt, and ketchup. SDAs tend to point to disasters like mad cow disease--bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), which was caused by feeding ground up dead cows to other cows--to justify their vegetarianism, rather than advising people to buy beef from grass-fed cows. SDA doctors from India come up with excuses like this, and others, why people should not eat the holy cow.

Following the teachings of demons even further, some SDAs are now getting heavy into the vegan idea of not eating anything that has a face or that was made by anything that has a face. Significantly, this cuts out things like milk and honey, even though God called the Promised Land a land flowing with milk and honey to describe how good it was.

Now, a black SDA brain surgeon by the name of Ben Carson wants to be the leader of the Republican party and become the president of the United States. He believes that vaccinations should be mandatory for everyone and that there should be no more philosophical or religious exemptions for anyone. The SDA habit of sending doctors to Africa to shoot the black people full of vaccines and pass it off as the white man's magic medicine could come back to haunt some SDAs whose missionaries have made these people twice as much the children of heck as they are themselves.

In the past, some WCG people did not like the ingredients in some vaccines and referred to them as “monkey puss.” Well, get ready for “aborted fetal tissue” magic jabs. In case dozens of mandatory vaccines by the time a student reaches age 18 is not enough, the pharmaceutical industry will be working on hundreds more.
